Do I Really Have to Grow Stuff?

The lifeblood of your farm is in the crops you plant and harvest.  When you begin to grow your farm all your investing should be in plowing and planting.  The question of what to plant can be answered when you consider which crops will bring the best return on investment.  You invest time and coins for plowing and for seed, and you want the crops that will bring in the most coins for the time you’ll be playing.

If your time on the game is limited look for crops that harvest in 12 hours, or 1 day, but bring a high price.  If you can play more often and can harvest more frequently it’s worth it to plant those crops with a shorter harvest time, then turn around and replant immediately.  The coins you make from your crops will add up quickly this way, allowing you to level up in the game.

What about Barns and Tractors?

Similar to the animals, buildings and farm equipment bring a low return on investment.  You don’t want to spend all your cash on stuff to put on the farm and have none left for planting.  Wait until you accrue 10,000 or more before you start adding sheds, barns, etc.

Once you have a healthy pile of coins, you will probably have a few animals as well via gifts or purchases.  At this time buying a dairy barn for your cows and/or a chicken coop for chickens is a strategic move because by moving your animals into these structures you are able to harvest them all at the same time — very efficient.
